Question 1

What makes Pochampally different from other ikat weaves?

Accepted Answer

The tie-dye is applied to both warp and weft (or one, depending on the piece) BEFORE weaving. When woven, the patterns align to produce distinctive diamond and chevron geometries with a soft blur at the edges.

Question 2

Is silk cotton suitable for summer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The cotton component keeps the saree breathable, while the silk adds drape and a light sheen without adding weight.

Question 3

Does Pochampally have a GI tag?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pochampally Ikat received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2004.
