Question 1

Why is the border reversible?

Accepted Answer

Maheshwari borders are traditionally woven so both sides show a finished, wearable design. This is achieved through a specific warp-weft interlacing and is considered a hallmark of the weave.

Question 2

Is Maheshwari heavier than pure cotton?

Accepted Answer

No — the silk-cotton blend is often LIGHTER than a pure cotton saree, with better drape. It's one of the most comfortable weaves for warm weather.
