Where it comes from
The 'butta' or 'buti' motif tradition is widespread across Indian handloom, from Chanderi and Maheshwar to South Indian cotton weaving clusters. Each butta is woven into the fabric during weaving — not printed or embroidered — using an extra-weft technique that master handloom weavers train in for years.

- No — because they are woven in, not embroidered or printed, they are as permanent as the base fabric.
